People use the name Jet to get my attention on the streets. It usually works. Everyone seems to pick-up a nickname as they go though life, and I'm no different.

I'm riding a 2002 BMW F650 GS Dakar, formerly owned by Pierre & Merritt. They took it on quite an adventure for a few years, when they got stuck in San Francisco. I few out in March, 2008 to pick it up and head back to the Chicago area. From there, I started heading south towards Bolivia at the start of June, 2008. The bike rolled out with a smidge under 80,000km on the odometer.

The bike a European model with French tags. It's equipped with an auxilary fuel tank system, bringing the bike to 39L total capacity. I can comfortably travel 900km before stopping for fuel. It has Jesse Aluminum saddle bags and I strap a roll-top dry bag on for the extra bits of luggage. There are also a bunch of extra after-market bits fitted to it.

I'm riding through Central and South America visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These places are of outstanding universal value to humanity and should be protected for future generations to appreciate and enjoy. To this end, I hope to inspire the next generation by working with K-12 students when I return.
